I spent 23 years in the legal profession before retiring on health grounds, and for the past few or so years my wife and I have been fostering full time for HCC. My journey in education began at High Wych sixteen years ago, and it feels very special to be returning as Deputy Head from April 2025. The school has always held an important place in my heart, not only because it’s where my career started, but also because all three of my children are former pupils. Before moving into education, I worked in banking in a variety of roles. I’m delighted to be back and look forward to working with the wonderful children, parents, staff, and governors who make this such a fantastic community.

I am a Parent Governor, having once been a pupil here myself and now having two children currently attending in Year 3 and Year 6. My professional background is in safeguarding, and I have spent my career working in schools, supporting the wellbeing and safety of children. Both as a parent and through my work, I understand how important it is for children to feel happy, safe and supported in order to thrive. I am passionate about the welfare of all pupils and care deeply about the positive environment the school provides. I am really pleased to be part of the governing body and look forward to contributing my experience while supporting the school and its continued success.

School Governors are the strategic leaders of our school and have a vital role to play in providing the best possible education for our pupils. By law the purpose of maintained school governing bodies is to ‘conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement at the school’. Their three core strategic functions:
  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
The minutes of the Governors’ meetings are available in the school office for viewing.
